The principle
This site sets no cookie until you accept. Until you click, or if you decline, no request goes to any third-party analytics service: the script is not merely idle, it is not loaded at all.
What loads if you accept
Microsoft Clarity, an analytics tool that does two things: count visits and page views, and record browsing sessions — mouse movement, scrolling, clicks — to show where the site is confusing.
- Processor: Microsoft Corporation, acting on our behalf.
- Transfer outside the European Union: yes, to the United States, covered by standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Cookies set: Clarity sets its own cookies, including an anonymous session identifier. Their lifetime is set by Microsoft — from the session to thirteen months depending on the cookie.
- Recording retention: set by Microsoft, in the order of thirty days for session replays.
What is never recorded
The fields of the contact form and the search field are masked in the site's own code, not only in Clarity's settings: what you type there — name, email address, message, query — appears in no recording. A dashboard setting can be changed by accident; an attribute versioned in the code cannot.
We do not use Clarity for advertising, for retargeting, or to identify anyone individually.
Changing your mind
The button at the top of this page reopens the banner, in both directions: accept after declining, or decline after accepting. Your decision is kept for six months in your browser's local storage, then we ask again.
Declining takes nothing away: no feature of the site depends on analytics.
Local storage
One single item is written to your browser's localStorage: your choice itself, with
its date. It is needed so we do not ask again on every page, and it is sent nowhere.
The active tab on the lake map and the contents of the search field live in memory for the length of your visit, and disappear with the tab.
Outbound links
The “get directions” links open Google Maps. Tracking then begins at Google, on that third-party site, not here — but it does begin, which is why those links are never triggered automatically.
